Microsoft Introduces Communications Server ‘14′

Microsoft announces the next version of its unified communications software, code-named Communications Server 14, at VoiceCon Orlando. The platform will provide full enterprise telephony and allows embedded communications and the use of tools such as instant messaging, in what Microsoft is touting as a complete enterprise communications package. Analysts predict that UC could become a $14.5 billion market by 2015, making it an attractive prize for companies such as IBM and Microsoft.

Nortel CVAS Offers New Mobile VOIP, Hosted IP Solutions

Nortel CVAS, which is being bought by Texas-based Genband, is unveiling its upcoming 4G Mobile VOIP solution designed to enable service providers to seamlessly integrate all cellular technologies. Vonage Wins Second Virtual Number Patent

The new patent focuses on its Session Initiation Protocol-based network to allow more customers to establish virtual numbers outside a Vonage customer’s local calling area to call for the price of a local call.
– The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted Vonage Holdings a second
patent for virtual telephone numbers. Vonage’s first patent involving virtual
phone numbers No. 7,386,111 was granted on June 10, 2008.

Verizon Business Teams With Microsoft, Cisco on UC Services

Verizon Business is partnering with Microsoft to enable customers using Microsofts Office Communications Service 2007 R2 UC platform to take advantage of Verizons IP Trunking technology. Verizon and Cisco also are partnering on an immersive video collaboration service.

Weve been too busy emulating Bernard Black from the Black Books episode where he was locked out of his shop, and had to find ways to keep himself warm and entertained on the streets of London overnight, today. Oh, plus designing a logo for a top secret forthcoming project.
