Cisco, BT Team Up for Hosted UC Services

BT and Cisco are partnering to create a cloud-based, hosted unified communications platform designed to make it more cost-effective for businesses to embrace UC technologies, which bring together voice, mobile and data services. The services will be offered through BT, while Cisco Services will build the underlying infrastructure and help sell the services.

Siemens Enterprise Communications Names CEO

Hamid Akhavan, currently the chief operating officer at Deutsche Telekom and CEO of T-Mobile International, will take over as CEO of Siemens Enterprise Communications, a joint venture of Siemens AG and a U.S. private equity firm. The company sells telecommunications products and services.
– Siemens Enterprise Communications has appointed an executive from Deutsche Telekom to be its CEO.
Siemens announced Dec. 8 that 47-year-old Hamid Akhavan, who has

Avaya and Cisco Systems were the top vendors in a unified communications market that saw strong growth in the third quarter, according to Dell’Oro Group. However, while the UC space is doing well in the second half of 2009 and is expected to continue growing in 2010, it will be a while before it reaches the pre-recession numbers of 2008.
