VOIP fax specialist FaxBack announces a beta of a fax ATA device, an alliance with voice over IP services company Epygi and a partner program offering to add Microsoft Fax capabilities into VOIP telecom offerings for free.

While this beta application is aimed at consumers, Jajah@Call could open the door for business users as well. BrokenTV Movie Club: Special Bulletin (1983)

This is something quite special. Special Bulletin was a TV movie broadcast on NBC in 1983, depicting a threat from US-based intellectual-pacifist terrorist cell to detonate a nuke in a Charleston harbour. At this point you might be mentally composed a Photoshopped screen-grab plastered with the words PACIFISM FAIL, but bear with us. The twist is, all events are relayed through simulated live news broadcasts from the fictional RBS Network. It’s all put together very well, being recorded on video as opposed to film in order to capture the newsy feel more accurately, and it even opens with a realistically-1983-ish promo for forthcoming shows being interrupted by a – hey! – special bulletin.

With Nortel Deal, Avaya Moves Past Cisco in Enterprise Telephony

Avaya will pay more than $900 million for Nortel Networks’ Enterprise Solutions business, which includes Nortel’s unified communications technologies. The deal will give Avaya a 25 percent share of the enterprise telephony market, putting Cisco Systems in second place at 16 percent, according to analysts. The deal is part of bankrupt Nortel’s decision to sell off its businesses piecemeal.
